Toms Computer Needs A Beating Part 2: Electric Boogaloo Empty

PostToms Computer Needs A Beating Part 2: Electric Boogaloo

Well, Usually it's third times a charm but I'm pretty sure my computer ain't gonna make it to it's third try. Last night after the test cast on my sparkly new wired connection to my router in the basement, A very faint crack eminated from my PC and now it's toast. I can fire it up, but it will only stay on for 5 or so minutes before instantly shutting off again...

Since I'm not in school this time and I don't have a laptop, It'll be a bit harder for me to check up and see whats going on. So please, if you need to contact me, Use either TwitchTV Private Messagess or Twitter and consider contacting me through Steam or Skpe pointless. I'll keep the post and my twitter updated but it mgiht be a while before I go about casting again.

UPDATE

I found out what the issue was. Ever since a few months ago, my power supply has be making terrible grinding noises and I assumed that it finally bit the dust. So, I opened it up and found three resistors covered with burn marks as well as the surrounding circuit board. My dad was nice enough to offer to buy me a new one tomorrow so hopefully that plan doesn't fall through.

Ooo, I know what this is. You've probably blown a capacitor! There should have been a smell shortly after that happened.

If you see something that looks like that, you're going to need that new computer sooner than we thought! Smile

If you don't see anything that looks like that, look for anything marked black or brown. It might be a stick of ram went bad, but last time I checked, ram doesn't pop. PSU maybe?
